Friends of the Lisbon Library

The Friends of the Lisbon Public Library is an all volunteer non-profit organization (501c3, EIN 271271468) organized in 2009 to promote the Lisbon Public Library through volunteerism, fundraising, and community outreach. Friends organizations like ours extend a library’s capacity through dollar gifts, volunteer and program support, and through advocacy.  Over the years, the Friends of the Lisbon Public Library have supported numerous library programs including Heritage Hall concerts and puppet shows, summer reading, after school and early out activities, Halloween Town, and the Spring Into Health program to name just a few.

In 2022, the Friends became a local partner of the award-winning Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide high-quality age-appropriate books to children from birth until their fifth birthday. Books are mailed monthly to each child enrolled, and while the program is free to families, the Friends cover the cost of mailing. Thanks to the financial support of our local community, The Friends of the Lisbon Public Library is proud to be able to offer the Imagination Library to the estimated 450 children in the 0 - 5 age group living in the Lisbon 52253 and Mt Vernon 52314 ZIP codes!

You can enroll your child/children directly on Dolly Parton's Imagination Library website. Enrollment materials are also available at the Lisbon Library or Cole Library in Mt. Vernon. Feel free to contact us if you have questions.

Please join us in our mission to support the Lisbon Public Library! As a Friend, you can contribute resources to enhance experiences and facilities at the Library. We encourage volunteerism and promotion of the library’s services and programs.
